2010 Aviation Awards Program Launched

The 15th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta will be recognizing several outstanding people who exemplify the highest standards of flying and service, or have made extraordinary contributions to the aerospace industry in the year 2009. The 2010 Aviation Awards will honor their achievements at an awards ceremony and dinner on February 13, 2010.

Nominations are currently being accepted for the following categories:

  • Fixed Wing Pilot of the Year (with sub-categories)
    • For General Aviation
    • For Airlines
    • For Government or Military
  • Helicopter Pilot of the Year
    • For General Aviation
    • For Government/Military
  • Flight Instructor of the Year
    • For General Aviation
    • For Government/Military
  • Female Pilot of the Year
    • For General Aviation
    • For Airlines
    • For Government/Military
  • CAAP Check Pilot of theYear
  • CAAP Air Traffic Controller of the Year
  • Mechanic of the Year
  • Aviation Maintenance School Instructor of the Year
  • Aviation Maintenance School Administrator of the Year
  • Executive Pilot of the Year
  • Aviator of the Year

Nominees are subject to the following criteria.

The awards for, Flight Instructor, Fixed Wing-, Helicopter-, and Female Pilots are presented to individuals who have demonstrated significant flying time, and number of years of safe and excellent airmanship, as well as positive achievement and contribution to their respective organizations.

CAAP Check Pilot and ATC awards are to be presented to CAAP personnel who have provided a high level of service and dedication to duty.

The Mechanic of the Year award goes to the individual who has demonstrated his knowledge and dedication to maintaining airworthy aircraft. This individual has made significant contributions to his company to improve processes and operations.

The Aviation Maintenance School Instructor and Administrator award is presented to a school's employee with a minimum tenure of 10 years, and who has exhibited outstanding dedication to his/her vocation. This individual should have received prior recognition form his/her own school for an achievement of exceptional work done.

Aviator of the Year is awarded to an individual who has exerted the most positive influence on the aviation community in the country for the year.
